Board Strategy
This strategy is in effect from 2025-2026.
Mission
The mission statement describes the Board's ongoing purpose.
To enable our Co-op community to thrive through consistent and stable management of the Co-op.
Vision
The vision statement describes where we want our coop to be in 10+ years.
Our vision is for the Co-op to have a community of members who:
- share the value of helping the Co-op and its members succeed.
- find participation in the Co-op to be a rewarding experience.
- enjoy being part of the Co-op.
Challenges
This section describes the problems that the Board will solve with this strategy.
- Member engagement: Low participation in the Board and committees hinders the Co-op community's success and limits the enjoyment for volunteers.
- COHO coordinator onboarding: It takes a long time for a new coordinator to provide a service of high quality in all of their many responsibilities to the Co-op.
- CLT communication: Challenging communication with CLT strains the Board's ability to fulfil their duties to the Co-op.
Initiatives
The initiatives are the broad areas of work that the Board will engage in to achieve our goals.
- Introduce structure
- We will implement and document sustainable processes that set clear expectations, to guide the conduct of the Board, committees, Co-op members, and other persons who interact with the Co-op.
- Formalise Board decisions into policies to aid in future decision making and provide transparency to Co-op members.
- Facilitate volunteer onboarding
- We will promote clear and rewarding avenues into volunteer positions within the Co-op.
- We will support new volunteers in becoming active members of the Co-op community.
